When watching trailers, it's easy to get a wrong impression about what the film is going to be like. That was exactly my experience when I saw the trailer for Rodrigo Gudiño's horror film, 'The Breach'. I thought it was going to be a dark mystery-thriller along the lines of a police procedural, but what I got was a thrilling and haunting horror film that kept me hooked from start to finish.

The cast of 'The Breach' is fantastic, with all three actors delivering an onscreen friction worthy of a soap opera. Allan Hawco plays Chief of Police John Hawkins, a man who has only one week left in town before he moves to the big city and needs to get to the bottom of the mystery quickly. Emily Alatalo takes on the role of Meg Fullbright, a local tour guide who helps Hawkins on his investigation. Wesley French is coroner Jacob Redgrave, another key player in uncovering the truth.

The three actors bring a level of tension and chemistry to their roles that makes the film's dark and haunting scenes all the more believable. The cinematography by Eric Oh is also noteworthy, capturing the eerie atmosphere of the derelict house where most of the film takes place. The location shoot in Parry Sound, Ontario adds to the film's sense of realism, making it easy to imagine that you're right there with Hawkins and his team as they investigate the strange occurrences in Lone Crow.
